There is an art and science to cleaning

Cleaning doesn't come in a bottle. Our most asked question is: What cleaner are you using? The secret ingredient in our success as a cleaning company is not a specific cleaner but knowing the art and science of cleaning.

Before we even begin cleaning, there is an essential gathering of data and setting up our procedures. First things first...

What are we cleaning? What are the characteristics and sensitivities of this surface? What are the characteristics and sensitivites of the surrounding surfaces and the home in general? As an example. If we are restoring a 1920's fireplace we first need to know what are the details of the fireplace. If it is a stone, what are the sensitivities of this stone? What is this fireplace surrounded by?

Next, it is all about the soil. What are we trying to remove from this surface? What is our soil or contaminate: hard water deposits, grease, coating, cleaner/residue, dirt, germs, grout haze... ?
As an example, we wouldn't use the same cleaner or process on a travertine shower to remove hard water deposits as we would to remove a urethane coating on a slate floor. These two surfaces and soil/contaminates require different cleaners and procedures.

Continuing on, is the chemistry. What cleaners are we going to use to help us safely remove the soil/contaminate from our surface without doing harm to either the surface or the person doing the work?

Finally, we need to decide and develop the procedures/techniques. Like I said at the beginning, it is not all about the cleaner in the bottle. This is where the art and science of cleaning really kick in. There is so much more to cleaning than just the chemicals used.
There is removal of dry particulates. This could be vacuuming or containment.
There is time, how long to let a product sit?
There is heat- will the temperature help or hinder the process/surface?
There is agitation, abrasives and psi- an essential in breaking the surface tension.
There is also the cleaner, sometimes your cleaner can be as simple as water or it can be a multi product step system.

Our success comes from knowing how to put all these parts of the cleaning equation together to effectively remove the soil/ contaminate from the surface without doing harm. It is not all about the cleaner. It is about the mastery of a science, 20 years of experience, being a natural in the art of cleaning and having the determination to get the job done right.
